Spring Break

OK, so we left Friday afternoon, I took a half day off from school. We were going to try and get to the game Randy was originally supposed to pitch in that night. Luckily, it turned out that he was going to play on Saturday instead. The flight was fine, Tay was GREAT. She slept the two hour part of the trip, and colored the other hour part. We had a brief layover, meaning we had to RUN to the other side of the airport to get to the plane, causing a bit of fussiness b/c she wanted a drink and a snack but we didn't have time. Some nice man gave her a water right before we boarded. Apparently he was someone important b/c once on the plane a couple people asked him for his autograph but I have no clue who he was. (Go me!) My cousin's wife Danielle picked us up and we were off to Oceanside. Got to their house, Tay was having a blast with their son Luke, who is almost 2. Dani and I were going out that night with some of her girl friends to this country bar called Stampede. it was CRAZY. Soldiers everywhere for one, b/c we were so close to camp Pendleton. Crazy too because I have NEVER seen a "country" place like that! All they did was line dance, and every single person there pretty much knew how to do them. (Gator, you wouldn't BELIEVE it!!) There was no two stepping or other dancing, it was all line dances. Had SEVERAL people ask me to dance literally using the line (and don't take this the wrong way, I was amused) Can I get you a drink, I've been in Iraq the last 7 mths, or I just got home from Iraq, can I buy you a drink...it was THE line of the night, SO, by the time we left at 1 their time (3 my time) I was exhausted.

Saturday: We drove out to USC to see Randy play at 12. He was the started so that was awesome. My cousin hasn't seen him since he was 14, so to see Ran up on that hill throwing 93 mph, he was pretty impressed. Ran stayed in till about the 4th and he got hit on the ankle by a hit ball, so they pulled him. He limped all that day, but he's fine now. We stayed for the rest of the game (a win, woowoo!) and then followed them back to his hotel. We all had dinner at Marie Callendars which I thought was pretty good. Matt and Danielle thought Randy was pretty cool, and you all know how much I adore Randy (side note: he hardly had any fun on that road trip b/c all the other baseball guys wanted to get drunk and go to strip clubs and ran of course thought that was pretty lame. bummer for him, but I am proud of him) Late drive home and we were finished.

Sunday: Had a yummy omelette for breakfast that Matt made with some fresh juice, apple, carrot and cucumber. (I want a juicer now!) Dani and I took the kids and went to the Carlsbad Outlet stores and did some shopping. So fun, walking around outside (outdoor mall) and just hanging out talking...From there we went to the BEACH. We had lunch out on the end of the pier at a place called Rubys, a 50's diner. Tay and Luke played on a play park type of deal at the beach till it was our time to eat. After lunch we went and let them play in the water. By this time the sun was going down so they could only stand it for about half an hour. Shivering with cold is only fun for so long!! At the house, my dad's brother, my uncle came over with his wife for a taco dinner. We had chili, cheese, ground turkey, tortillas, two kinds of cheeses, sour cream, tomatoes, jalapenos...it was SO good. I was still stuffed from my hickory bacon burger from Rubys tho, so I couldn't eat much. We watched Boston Legal and were off to bed.

Monday: Disneyland! Wow! I am not a big amusement park girl but I was so impressed with disneyland. the people that worked there were so nice, and we hardly had to wait in any lines!! tay got to meet Buzz Lightyear, who she LOVES now. That ride was the coolest too. You rode around in these cars firing at buzzers and it really kept a score. I was at level 3 when it ended, We rode the carousel (sp?) the rockets, the pirates of the Caribbean, the pooh ride, snow white, storybook land, alice and wonderland...SO many things. The only one tay didn't like was the snow white ride. It was dark and creepy 90% of the ride... Where we ate lunch, Toon Town, was where all the characters would enter the park to go walk around. Well, when Pluto came out tay was the first one there to him and he took her by the hand and took off!! I was like WHOA! That's my kid!! He took her across the street and she got her picture made with him. She loved it! She wasn't too fond of Donald for some reason, I call that picture Terror in Disneyland, We had churros, honey popcorn and LOTS of water that day. By the end I had to carry her resulting in VERY sore muscles. She had so much fun though. Well worth the exhaustion. And I was worried about her being too young but she remembers everything we did and BOY, hasn't stopped talking about it. I wish Michael could have gone tho, that would have made it easier, plus, we missed him!

Tuesday: Woke up and drove to the airport...Tay and I slept the whole way home. We both coughed a LOT this trip so an early bedtime was necessary that night. All in all a GREAT little vaca. My cousin and I had a great time, he wishes we could have stayed longer and done more, but man, I don't know if I could have physically handled anything else!!
As it is, I still have three days of my spring break left and I plan on hanging out with TD, doing some cooking, and SLEEPING!!
